Wat Khao Lo
This weekend we drove to Kamphaeng Phet, about a 7 hour drive from Chiang Mai. My son and Pink officially became engaged in a traditional Thai Engagement Ceremony. How cool is that?
Her parents home was close to the Ping River, on Saturday we took stroll along the river.
I had heard many stories about the monkeys at Wat Khoa Lo. On sunday after the ceremony before we headed back to Chiang Mai, we made a side trip to Wat Khoa Lo to see the monkeys. What an incredible experience!
Wat Khao Lo is at foot of Khao No-Khao Kaeo, a limestone mountain that juts out towards the sky.
As usual, I have an unusual opportunity for photos, and I am out of disk space. I did manage to capture a few images of the monkeys with my few spots left on my disks.
It was truly amazing to be surrounded by so many monkeys. There must have been at least 1,000, every where you looked there were monkeys.
A stairway leads to a cave at the peak where a large Buddha image sits in front.
You can climb stairs to the top of a rocky crag, I made it about half way up. All along the way you are surrounded by monkeys. All looking at you to see if you have food.
Someday I would like to go back and spend more time, with a full disk available for photos.
What an experience. I wanted to bring one home with me, but Sean wouldn’t let me.
