Dog Party, BIG Dog Party!
When my children were little I read to them every night. One of my favorite books was Go, Dog, Go! by P.D. Eastman. My favorite part was towards the end, when all the dogs woke up in the morning and headed to the tree. “Where are they going?” the story asks. “To a dog party! A big dog party! Big dogs, little dogs, black dogs, white dogs, all going to a dog party!”
I recently attended a dog party, a BIG dog party!

Sad because they have no home, and worried that they would never have a human family to call their own.
The BIG dog party was the 3rd Birthday party for Care for Dogs.

If you have seen my story about Care for Dogs you would know they are a local dog shelter here in Chiang Mai. They do wonderful work for the whole community, taking in dogs that need medical care, abandoned dogs, abused dogs.
They also go out into the community with a sterilization program to try to help bring down the numbers of stray and homeless dogs. Currently there are 133 dogs living there, waiting for someone to come fall in love with them and take them home.
The party was a real success! Many people from the community came out, and visited with the dogs, a few were even adopted! The best part is having people there to give the dogs attention.

These dogs love human contact, they enjoy being around people, going for special walks, receiving love and affection. Each one deserves a good home where they can thrive and devote themselves to their new family.
If you happen to live in Chiang Mai check out Care for Dogs. Where ever you live, there are shelters full of dogs just waiting for a family to find them. Visit one, if you can’t bring one home, volunteer to give the dogs love until they have found homes. You will be rewarded with leaps and bounds of doggie love. |
